Panshanger parkrun was started in 2014 by a team from the Friends of Panshanger Park to encourage people to discover the Park as it became open to the public.

The run starts each Saturday from the Welwyn Garden City side of the Park with access from Panshanger Lane. Full details and how to register can be found here:

Parkruns are free community events that take place all around the world, with participants enjoying weekly 5k events on Saturday mornings (and junior 2k events on Sunday mornings) in local parks and open spaces. The aim of parkrun is to be a positive, welcoming and inclusive activity for all ages (4+) and abilities – with no time limit. The events are entirely organised by volunteers.

Panshanger parkrun has gone from strength to strength and regularly attracts 250 plus participants who enjoy the run, jog or walk around the one lap course and then the chance to catch up with others over a cup of coffee.

Many people have been attracted to start running by the weekly inclusivity of parkrun and we regularly celebrate participants who have completed coach to 5k programmes and share in their success.
